To those who have been looking forward to celebrating Village Day at Mewstone Paddock for the first time since 2019, it is hugely disappointing for everyone involved to have the event moved to Strete Village Hall. This is due to the atrocious gale force winds and heavy rain we are experiencing in, what should be, the time for warm summer sunshine and blue skies. To visitors checking out websites in the South Hams area looking for something to do, those of us who live here sympathise with your frustrations but Strete Village Day has something for everyone.
Social activities and events designed to create fun and entertainment at Strete Village Day have been in the making for months by a very dedicated and committed team.
However, whilst some of the outdoor arena events will not now take place there is a determination to put a spectacle of fun and merrymaking together for everyone to enjoy at Strete Village Hall this Saturday from 12pm. This is an event created for villagers, locals and visitors to join together (despite the weather) and prove to that mystical Gulf Stream, reportedly causing the change from a normal August, that we will still have fun together.
There will be a traditional charcoal BBQ with tasty locally produced burgers and sausages, a bar with Dartmoor Brewery's famous Jail Ale and Bays Brewery's Devon Rock as well as Hunts Misty Maid Cider, Sutton's wine, Gin & Tonic, Prosecco, together with a number of soft drinks. There will also be a Pimm's Bar. Inside the village hall there will be Tea, Coffee and locally baked Cakes, Children's Fancy Dress as well as a number of traditional stalls offering interest for all ages including a tombola with prizes. All of this needs everyone to brave the weather and help make it a day to remember. Please support Strete community if you can. 

Strete Village Day will take place on Saturday 4th August at Mewstone Paddock, Totnes Road, from noon onwards.
